I had the Seafood Linguine Medley, which was full of flavor. It included two or three large scallops, four or five mussels, and about two shrimp. The sauce was a delightful creamy rose, not overly salty as I’ve sometimes found in other restaurants. The rest of my party had the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine. It was delicious, but very spicy, which we enjoyed since we like a bit of heat. We also tried the Smash Burger and Mediterranean Chicken Skewers, both of which were very good. We appreciated that the restaurant wasn’t overly loud, especially after visiting two other places the day before (O’Rileys and Celtic Hearth) where we had to shout to hear each other. Our server, a young man from Mexico studying biochemistry, was fantastic.

We had an amazing dinner at the Gypsy Tea Room this August. Our food was excellent - I had the Ceusted Cod and my husband the Seafood Linguine and both were delicious. Cooked perfectly and highly enjoyable. However, the highlight of our meal was the quality service from Cassie. This was our first day visiting Newfoundland, and she was so incredibly kind and welcoming. It’s not often to run across a server that genuinely wants to make your day better, but Cassie did just that. We can honestly say that service from Cassie was what put our experience over the top. Would definitely recommend Gypsy Tea Room and would return here without hesitation.

The Gypsy Tea Room is truly a hidden gem with outstanding food. We sampled the burrito bowl, lamb burger, duck, chicken skewers, and a few starters, and everything was exceptionally flavorful. While the lamb burger was delicious, it was slightly on the dry side, but still worth trying. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, adding to the enjoyable ambiance. Casual sitting and excellent ambiance. We're definitely planning to return with friends!

I traveled out to St. John's from BC with my wife for a conference at the end of May 2025. While walking down the street we came across this intriguing restaurant. We found the restaurant has a cozy, rustic interior with warm lighting and eclectic decor. The food was amazing, I had the pork tenderloin which was cooked perfectly. Our server, Katie W., was fantastic, she laughed with us, shared great stories and just had a real positive energy. I would truly recommend this wonderful restaurant to anyone.

Fantastic food and staff, wonderful patio. The blackened salmon was the best meal I've had on the island. They brought a bowl of water out for my pup on the patio. The lemon cheesecake was the perfect finish to the evening.

We had our wedding here and it was everything we wanted! Doug and his staff went above and beyond. They were so accommodating, the environment was so relaxing. He calmed my nerves before the wedding and during (bride). The food was amazing, everybody loved it. The venue was a really good price and it was beautiful. Happy Bride, groom, family and friends! I would recommend 10 times over! -Haley and Nathan

We were a group of 18 and was seated and one of the large rooms in the lower floor. The room was fantastic, spacious, and gave us a private space for interactions. Our server was very attentive a patient. I ordered the cod fish burger and I would definitely ordered again. Portions was great, tons of fries. The clam chowder was excellent as well, and I particularly like the fact that it was not salted too heavily, like many other restaurants do. Chunks of fish were present. I would say the carrot cake was okay. It's not as small as some of the better ones I have tasted but that may be my own particular preference.
